A 5.7 magnitude earthquake shook northeast and central Colombia, including the capital Bogotá, on Sunday morning. However, according to the authorities, no casualties or damage to property have been reported as of this writing.

The earthquake, whose epicenter is in the city of Los Santos (northeast), occurred at 10:45 a.m. local time (1545 GMT) at a depth of 152 kilometers, the Colombian Geological Survey Agency said on Twitter.

“Currently there is no report of any casualties from the earthquake,” Colombian President Gustavo Petro also said on Twitter.

According to testimonies published on the social network, the earthquake was strongly felt in Bogota (centre) and in Bucaramanga, near the epicenter where one of the country’s most important geological faults is located.

A magnitude 3.6 aftershock was recorded in the north-east of the country just under thirty minutes after the quake, the Geological Survey said.
