In the current scenario, it is normal to find actors who finish productions and run towards others. Therefore, there is often no free time for them.
This situation can prove beneficial for viewers as there is a constantly bubbling source of content. But on the other hand, there is also the downside of the coin, as there is no possibility for the actors to reprise a fanfavorite role due to a very busy schedule.
Unfortunately, “Enola Holmes 2” is one of the most recent instances in which such a scenario has been repeated. The production starring Stranger Things queen Millie Bobby Brown may not have Sam Claflin in its sequel.
But don’t think that only “Enola Holmes” suffered because there is a huge list of titles that couldn’t have any of the main characters due to busy schedules. Check out some examples below!
1. Mycroft Holmes “Enola Holmes 2” (2022)
Fans who loved the character played by Sam Clafin were saddened when it was revealed that he would no longer be Enola’s older brother in the new sequel.
But the reason was that the actor ended up having a conflict with another production that was also in development at the time.
Although we didn’t see the character in action, this again didn’t prevent “Enola Holmes 2” from achieving a great success.
2. Carol Marcus “Star Trek Beyond” (2016)
The second title to suffer from tight schedules was Star Trek Beyond, which was released in 2016, which Alice Eve, responsible for the living Carol Marcus, was unable to attend production.
But even if her absence wasn’t explained, cowriter and star of the franchise Simon Pegg revealed that the reason she didn’t appear in the storyline was because there wasn’t a role that suited her.
So director Pegg decided to leave her aside in this production, but that didn’t stop Simon Pegg from leaving open the invitation for the character to return to the franchise.
3. Deadshot “Suicide Squad” (2021)
While director James Gunn’s work Suicide Squad was in the development process, it was revealed that Will Smith’s character, Distoler, would not be able to take part in the production. With that, many fans of DC’s work were disappointed.
Keep calm, however, because the reason for this was a scheduling conflict, a fact that ultimately prevented the actor from taking part in the Suicide Squad sequel.
As a result, Idris Elba was set to take on the role, but was ultimately given to Bloodsport. Thankfully, the character’s absence didn’t directly disrupt the narrative.
4. Mikaela Barnes “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” (2011)
We saw Megan Fox as Mikaela Barnes during the first two titles until the third feature film when the actress was absent. But at least there was a little explanation for it.
According to the film, the reason Mikaela dropped out was because her relationship with Shia LaBeouf’s character, Sam, ended.
As for the real screen side, Fox left the franchise because she ended up getting fired. That’s because she reportedly compared the Michael Bay franchise to Hitler.
A while later, the two broke up and then Fox and Bay worked together again in the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
5. William Brandt “Mission: Impossible: Fallout Effect” (2018)
Last on our list is William Brandt, the character created by Jeremy Renner.
The actor was responsible for experiencing some pivotal characters in the storyline of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Mission Impossible: Secret Nation, and did not appear in Mission Impossible: Fallout Effect.
This happened because he was prevented from participating thanks to one of the Avengers films he was taking part in during the same period.
