Five restaurants and food establishments in Laval have been fined by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) since June 28.
The total offenses amount to US$6,500.

The MAPAQ explains that the trade “has in any way hindered or attempted to hinder the work of an authorized person or an investigator in the exercise of his duties, in particular by means of harassment, intimidation, embarrassment or insult,” we can read.
Alimentations Caraibes Plus, located at 7784, boulevard Lévesque est, was instead fined $1,000 for possessing a product that could be damaged by heat without promptly cooling it or without constantly keeping it at an internal temperature and an ambient temperature of no more than 100% 4°C until delivery to the consumer.
For its part, the Intermarché Palumbo, 255, boulevard de la Concorde West, was fined $1,000 because the retailer “deceived or attempted to deceive in any form and by whatever means whatsoever on the date of the product”, says the MAPAQ.
Old Kam Shing was sanctioned because people who came into contact with the products or materials and equipment did not wash their hands and forearms with hot water and liquid soap or powder after handling raw food. The fine for the restaurant at 575 Saint-Martin Boulevard West was $1,000.
Finally, the Tim Hortons location at 4333 Highway 13 was issued a $500 violation. The locations, equipment and materials used for preparation, storage and maintenance were deemed unsuitable by the MAPAQ investigator.
