Spanish is the second most consumed musical language in the world after English, the magazine confirms billboard. The rapid rise of Latin music can be felt all the way to Quebec: proof of this are these five popular artists who recently visited us.

Bad bunny

29-year-old Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny drew raves during his March 2022 visit to the Bell Center as part of his El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo tour. Viewers reported numerous pyrotechnics and impressive visual effects (including fireworks) multiplying to the rhythm of Latin trap and reggaeton songs from his albums YHLQMDLG and El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo. The 38-year-old singer, winner of five Latin Grammy Awards and dubbed the “Prince of Reggaeton,” was at the Bell Center on May 27, 2022 with his Joe Tour. Originally from Medellín, Colombia, the superstar enchanted festival-goers in Quebec first with her (historic, according to those in attendance) concert at the Osheaga Festival in April 2018 and then in September 2019 at Place Bell in Laval during the LVL UP event.

Maluma

It is said that the world of Latin music is “trembling” because Colombian singer, guitarist and actor Maluma has teamed up with J. Balvin to deliver the song Gafas Negras and its accompanying video, the result of their second collaboration. The track is featured on Maluma's album Don Juan, which is nominated for Best Latin Pop Album at the 2024 GRAMMYs. The 29-year-old artist will be one of the headliners of the Fuego Fuego Festival, taking place in Montreal on May 25 and 26, 2024.

Becky G

American singer of Mexican origin Becky G raised the mood even more when she took the stage at the Quebec Summer Festival in July 2022. The 26-year-old artist appeared as the opening act for Luis Fonsi, who unfortunately had to cancel his performance due to severe storms. Judging by the numerous videos of festival-goers singing her song “Singing in the Shower” at the top of their lungs, Becky G will have had time to fill the crowd.
