For 29 years, artists have been creating literary-inspired plays for the International Literature Festival (FIL). Here are six suggestions from the sixty not-to-be-missed shows and activities presented in 15 different locations from September 20th to 30th, according to co-general director and artistic director Michelle Corbeil.

Niagara, accordingly a novel by Catherine Mavrikakis, by Martin Faucher

“This is an incredible author and a text that aims to look back on her story with her mother. This is a very beautiful book featuring the great Sylvie Drapeau. “This is an issue that affects us all: the loss of our mother or grandmother and how we remember them,” explains Michelle Corbeil.

May our joy endurebased on the novel by Kevin Lambert, by Angela Konrad

“A book that we talk about a lot and that even received a nomination for the Goncourt Prize. It is Angela Konrad, the new head of Factory C, who is taking care of the production. “With Marie-Thérèse Fortin, Lise Roy, Ariane Castellanos and Ralph Prosper, among others,” says the director.

My red life Kubrickbased on the novel by Simon Roy, by Eric Jean

“Author Simon Roy appealed for medical help in dying last year after battling brain cancer. It was the first book in which he linked Stanley Kubrick’s The Shinning to a tragedy in his family. Before he died, he told Eric Jean how important this project was to him. It’s very moving. With the excellent Maxim Gaudette. »

The Arcana, by Tristan Malavoy, by Paul-André Fortier

“A show wanted and imagined by Paul-André Fortier, a great choreographer and retired dancer who signs his first production here. It is a play commissioned by Tristan Malavoy, with Étienne Pilon chosen to recite the text but also move like a dancer. “So everyone does things they’ve never done before,” says the director.

“It is a show for children that combines literature and songs. It is a story about little rabbits that is extraordinary as a story. It was written by Cree author Tomson Highway. The songs are performed in Cree. For children aged 5 and over. A great way to teach children about the indigenous world in a fun way. »
