Launched earlier this week, the LPHF offers 300 female hockey players the opportunity to achieve true professional athlete status by getting paid to play the sport they love. Here’s what you need to know about this new race track.

Who are the owners of the LPHF?
Mark Walter, a 63-year-old American whose personal fortune is estimated at $5.4 billion according to Forbes. Most notably, he is the CEO of the investment fund Guggenheim Partners. He is co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the English soccer club Chelsea. He is also the largest shareholder in the Los Angeles Sparks, the Los Angeles women’s basketball team

In the first season, six teams will make up the ranks of the LPHF. The names of the general managers of the six teams were announced on Friday morning.

compensation
Minimum salary: $35,000
Average annual salary: $55,000
Six skaters per team must receive at least $80,000
A maximum of nine players can receive the minimum wage.
Various bonuses are awarded for trophy recipients, participation in the All-Star Game and members of the finalist and champion teams in the playoffs.
Team training?
A 15-lap repechage race will take place in Toronto on September 18, with the order determined by a random draw. Previously, each team had the opportunity to sign three players (from September 1st to 10th).
Each team’s active roster must contain 23 players.

Since the draft uses the serpentine formula, the selection order is reversed in each round. This means the Montreal franchise has the first right to speak in the second round.
Where are local games played?
The Montreal team is scheduled to play at the Verdun Auditorium, home to the 21.02 Center
What will the schedule be?
In the first season, each team will play 24 games starting in January. The schedule will be increased to 32 games starting next year, starting in November.
