700 people fall ill after the Christmas dinner organized by Airbus Atlantic

Hundreds of Airbus Atlantic employees reportedly fell ill during the Christmas dinner organized by their employer on December 14 in Montoir-de-Bretagne, France.

French health authorities are investigating the incident, which is believed to have led to more than 700 cases of gastroenteritis among the 2,600 participants, The Guardian reports.

Affected workers reportedly vomited and/or had diarrhea within 24 to 48 hours of eating dinner.

“We still don’t know whether it’s the Christmas dinner or the church service the next day,” Airbus section secretary Frédérick David told Ouest-France media.

The exact cause of the rapid spread of this disease is not yet known, while a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health indicates that “the investigation continues” and that the results of the tests carried out at the facility, the restaurant on the Airbus Atlantic site, are known will be next week.
