8000 bottles of wine survived a big explosion

Despite the explosion at the Food Valorization Center on March 23, 2022 in Sherbrooke, Eastern Townships, Domaine Bergeville Winery was able to recover almost all of the bottles.

The Domaine de Bergeville bottles were actually stored at the Food Valorization Center. To the surprise of its owners, 90% of the 8000 bottles survived the fire, heat and explosion.

They were stored at the point farthest from the source of the explosion, against an outside wall.

Air circulation around the cages while the fire raged undoubtedly limited the effects of the heat shock unleashed by the fire.

The oenologists in charge of the tasting, after 10 months of monitoring and examining the bottles, found no defects and even confirmed that the wine has retained its vibrancy and radiance.

For safety reasons, the winemakers were only able to salvage their produce, just over 7,000 bottles that remained intact, six weeks later.

They are therefore available in the online shop under the name Les Invincibles. Bottles will also soon be distributed at delicatessens in Quebec.

Three workers were also badly burned and about fifteen start-up companies lost all production.
