Penguins defenseman PO Joseph and his older brother Mathieu Joseph, a Senators forward, fulfilled a childhood dream when they played each other for the first time in the NHL on Friday night in Pittsburgh.
Neither player scored a point in Pittsburgh’s 4-1 win, but they went into the box together when they accidentally took high-stick penalties while their parents, Frantzi Joseph and France Taillon, watched from the stands.

PO Joseph sheepishly admitted his brother probably didn’t deserve a punishment and admitted he may have accidentally high-sticked himself.
“I don’t know if they thought it was going to be fun or that we were both going to get a penalty at the same time,” said Mathieu Joseph. “But things happen. I’m sure my parents laughed about it, but I didn’t find it funny.”
Her parents certainly had a good laugh, as was captured on video after it happened.

It’s not the first time two brothers have been awarded penalties in the same game.
In 1997, at a Buffalo Sabers vs. Hartford Whalers game in Connecticut, Keith and Wayne Primeau got into a fight and pitted.
And in 1992, Brent and Rich Sutter were unsportsmanlike in the second half and caught in the third during a Chicago Blackhawks-St. Louis Blues Matchup.
