Philippe Bureau-Blais leaves the Lions

The Trois-Rivières Lions announced on Monday that defender Philippe Bureau-Blais has made the decision to leave the team without explaining the reasons.

The Châteauguayan native has one goal and 12 assists for 13 points in 35 games for the Montreal Canadiens farm club in the ECHL this season. He joined the Lions in 2021-22.

Bureau-Blais, 27, briefly played in the Quebec Major Hockey League (LHJMQ). He wore the colors of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.

The Lions also announced the signing of American center Chad Pietroniro. The latter has played 10 games in the ECHL this season, accumulating two comfortable mentions. He played for the Newfoundland Growlers and the Maine Mariners.

Pietroniro is also a QMJHL product. From 2013 to 2016 he worked for the Val-d’Or Foreurs, the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
