We’ll continue to catch up on live news from CES 2023 with Kensington. The California-based company used the event to showcase several products that will catch the attention of people working from home. On the menu we discover their new docking stations, trackballs, a silent mechanical keyboard, a Bluetooth headset and a security cable. We reveal all the details.
We also offer you our other article about the company’s flagship products.
Four universal docking stations
Let’s start with the MD120U4 USB4 portable docking station. It includes the latest USB4 technology, making it compatible with a wide range of products. We’re talking about connectors for USB4, USB-C 3.2, Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 devices running Windows, macOS, iPadOS or Samsung DeX. There are also two HDMI 2.1 ports that offer up to 8K@60Hz for a single monitor and up to 4K@120Hz for dual monitors. With a USB-C power adapter (80W minimum), you can charge your computer while using other connected devices.
Kensington, still at the top of the range, also presented the SD5780T Thunderbolt 4 dual 4K/6K station. It has a video output that can go up to a resolution of 8K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz if you have a compatible device. But what impresses most is the total of 11 connectivity ports, including 4 USB-A 3.2 and a card reader, SD.
For even more mobility, the SD1700P USB-C Dual 4K station with Qi charging (pictured above) is what you need. Not only is it compact and simple, but it can also be used to charge your phone without the need for a cable. To this we add 2 HDMI ports, a USB-C, an Ethernet port and two USB-A 3.2 ports.
Kensington will also have a fourth universal station, which will be available in the second quarter of 2023 and promises some interesting innovations. This one mixes the station concept with a laptop stand, which is a perfect mix for those looking to maximize their ergonomics.
A new headset
For those looking for quality headphones, the H3000 Circumaural Bluetooth Headphones are a good solution. The latter is equipped with the latest Bluetooth 5.2 technology, allowing up to 60 hours of music autonomy and more than 40 hours of calls. It also benefits from passive noise-cancelling technology to cut out distractions. Finally, for more comfort, it features an over-ear design, an adjustable headband, earcups filled with cooling gel, and a pivoting microphone and earcups.
Kensington offers a quiet mechanical keyboard
As a gamer, I’m always a bit embarrassed to use my mechanical keyboard at work because it makes so much noise. This type of keyboard is great for gamers as it reduces response time but is less practical in everyday use. Here Kensington has THE perfect solution for me with a keyboard that makes less than 55 dB of noise. The company also promises us comfort and durability with this one. It is a beautiful product that I will definitely be getting my hands on in the near future.
Three trackballs, including two for beginners
Ever since I got my hands on a Kensington trackball, I can’t put it down. On the other hand, I have to admit that the adoption may seem impressive at first glance. With the Pro Fit Ergo TB450 and TB550 models, Kensington offers two inexpensive and easy-to-use trackballs. In fact, both only require the use of your thumb and come with a design that’s closer to a regular mouse.
For the more experienced, Kensington has introduced its Slimblade Pro TB B2B trackball. It uses all the company’s know-how in this field to offer a product that is more precise and ergonomic than ever. It is also available now from Kensington partner retailers.
Kensington is also innovative when it comes to security cables
Finally, the Californian company also had innovations for its flagship products: safety cables. The Nano range is so thin and light that it’s 70% smaller than its other cables. These are not only robust, but also thin and shaped in such a way that even the thinnest computers stand stable on surfaces. More details can be found here.
