Texas wide receiver Jeremiah Charles will be a husker. Arlington Martin High School’s 2023 prospect headed to Nebraska on Monday.
Charles’ pledge gives the Huskers three signings on the day he moves to Texas 2023 TE Ismael Smith Flores and Georgia OL to trade Jacob Hood.
Charles joins Smith Flores as the Huskers’ second engagement from Arlington Martin, where both were coached by the Nebraska tight ends coach Bob bet.
There was rapid recruitment between Charles and Nebraska since the team only offered it last week. Matt Rhule has gained a unique perspective through Wager on what kind of player and person Charles is.
Nebraska was at his high school on January 17 where they saw Charles play basketball. Charles might not have known it when he went into the game, but that game ended up being very important for his future. After 22 points, including four dunks, Nebraska had seen enough. The program offered him a scholarship – his first for football – and an official visit.

In his freshman year as a football player, Charles caught 23 passes for 452 yards and five touchdowns. The Texas native is a triple jumper who demonstrated his skills as a triple jumper throughout his high school career.
The receiver room overhaul has been a priority for Nebraska this offseason. The team needed more numbers there, but also more variety in the types of players in the room.
“Receiver is a point we need to build on,” offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield said on Jan. 6. “We have some good receivers, I just think we need to build the depth and different types of receivers there. You don’t want them all to look and be the same. They need different body types.”
Charles is the sixth Texan to join the Huskers’ recruit class of 2023. The Lone Star State has been an intense focus for Rhule since becoming Nebraska coach, and Charles’ involvement was the most recent example.
Monday’s Charles and Smith Flores commitments bring the Huskers to 25 commitments in the 2023 class, and they are now tied with Colorado for the nation’s No. 25 class. Nebraska remains No. 4 in the Big Ten – well ahead of Iowa and behind Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.
