Two blasts were heard in Kiev’s Shevchenkivskyi district, with residents of the city posting pictures and videos of the aftermath that showed smoke billowing over buildings in the city.

The strike comes on the same day that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, just days after Guterres met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I think it was a very useful meeting,” CNN said after the meeting. “First of all, it was possible to say to President Putin the same things that I say in New York or can say here in Kyiv, which means that the Russian invasion violates the charter of the United Nations, constitutes a violation of the territorial integrity of the Ukraine and that this war must end as soon as possible.”

It also comes on the same day that President Biden announced that he is seeking $33 billion from Congress in additional military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

“These resources will put much-needed equipment in the hands of Ukraine’s military and police and help NATO to deter and defend Russian aggression in the long term,” a government official said Thursday.
