In this regard, Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo explained to the communications team of the Presidency of the Republic that although there was a prelude to this moment that included online debates by the coordinators, this moment this Monday the face- at the Palace of San Martín, where the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located, a face-to-face meeting was held to finalize the negotiations on the Buenos Aires Declaration and 11 special communiqués to be adopted by our Heads of State and Government and other Heads of State and Delegations, during the VII Summit of Celac.
The Buenos Aires Declaration, he commented, is a very substantive, powerful document that addresses a wide range of the most important issues currently being discussed at the international level in the United Nations, such as climate change, migration, women’s progress and the protection of people in precarious situations.
The Vice Chancellor said the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace had been ratified; Issues related to human rights have been addressed, with the protection and promotion of all rights for all, and issues of sustainable development have also been widely addressed, particularly in our region.
“The reaffirmation of the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace was a cross-cutting point in the declaration and in many of the special communiqués that are being adopted by our leaders, giving a very clear message of this pacifist vocation, this vocation, problems based on the principles of international law, respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states, which is the vocation of the Latin America and Caribbean region,” said Rodríguez Camejo.
He added that 11 special communiqués have been negotiated, including three presented by the Cuban delegation, which have had the unanimous and strong support of the Celac membership at the level of national coordinators, and of course we hope that they will be adopted tomorrow as well Summit of heads of state and government.
«One on the blockade, that is, the request by the Commonwealth of Latin American and Caribbean States for the lifting of the United States blockade on Cuba. A second special communiqué was presented by our country on the subject of terrorism, the international fight against this scourge, and in this communiqué there is a specific request from the Celac members to exclude Cuba from the bogus list of countries allegedly promoting terrorism and unilaterally approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States to be prepared.
We have presented a third communiqué, he commented, which addresses the issue of nuclear disarmament, also an issue warmly welcomed by the Latin American and Caribbean region. «Recall that this is the first densely populated area on the planet to declare itself nuclear weapon-free; It is the first zone, also at international level, to be proclaimed a zone of peace through the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean. Therefore, the adoption of this special communiqué on nuclear disarmament, calling for the complete elimination of nuclear weapons, is also of great importance.”
The other communiqués, which are also very relevant, deal, for example, with the promotion and empowerment of women, with harmony with nature, with languages and the diversity that must exist on the planet, with indigenous issues and with the topic of cooperation on energy issues, added the Deputy Minister added.
“It has been a very fruitful day, the documents are ready to be discussed and analyzed by our leaders and we hope that they can be adopted and contribute to the success that we are sure this VII . Celac Summit all 33 of us will attend, countries of the Latin American and Caribbean region, with the renewed presence of Brazil in the community,” he concluded.
