The Longueuil Fire Department tried to control a fire that was declared at a disused motel on Tuesday night.
Calls to 911 alerted a fire that broke out just before 10 p.m. at this closed eatery on Taschenreau Boulevard.
A second alarm was raised, mobilizing nearly 80 firefighters to fight the blaze, which quickly spread through much of the building.
According to a spokesman for the Longueuil agglomeration fire department, no one was injured in the disaster.
That puts aside the rumor that someone, possibly a homeless person, has been arrested nearby.
The extent of the damage to the Oscar Motel building is currently unknown, as is the cause of the fire, it said.
