Fans have called for Madonna’s biopic audition to be turned into a reality show after Julia Garner went through a grueling audition process only for the film to be scrapped.
Pop superstar Madonna, 64, was planning to direct the film herself for Universal Pictures, but Variety reports the film is no longer in development.
And after insiders revealed auditions for the role were extensive and extreme, including 11-hour choreography sessions with Madonna’s choreographer, fans have shared their desire for a show that documents the process behind Garner’s selection for the role job stuck.

During the callbacks, actresses performed readings with Madonna, 63, and sang with her.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, sources have revealed that auditions can sometimes involve 11-hour choreography sessions with Madonna’s choreographer, followed by a choreography session with the actual Material Girl singer.
A rep who knew about the auditions called them “grueling,” and some of the auditions had been going on for months.
“You have to be able to do everything,” a source told THR.

Insiders said drafts of the script culminated with their 1990 Blonde Ambition tour, but it was thought the plot could change as the storyline evolved.
Despite the disappointing news that the biopic is no more, fans decided to jump at the chance to get an inside look at Madonna’s recruitment process.

Someone else posted a clip of five women taking part in a stressful dance class, with one being unfairly verbally abused by the teacher.
They wrote alongside, “Now that the Madonna biopic is scrapped I’ll just pretend this is the Madonna boot camp.”
Another shared an image of hieroglyphs embedded in some clay and jokingly wrote, “Vaierty acquired the never-before-seen footage from the Madonna Biopic script-writing session.”

Sources say Madonna still wants to make the film at some point in the future but is currently turning her attention to her upcoming concerts.

When asked why she chose this venture, she told Variety, “I’ve had an extraordinary life, I have to make an extraordinary movie.”

The Material Girl added: “It was also a pre-emptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make films about me. Mostly misogynistic men. So I put my foot in the door and said, “No one’s gonna tell my story but me.”
In June, news broke that Julia Garner, who recently played fake German heiress Anna Delvey in the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna, had been offered the lead role.
Julia has reportedly hit a string of lively names, including Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, Kingstown Mayor actress Emma Laird and euphoria bombshell Alexa Demie, as well as singers like Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira.
Madonna was heavily involved in the biopic — not only does she co-write the film, but she also directs it.
