‘What a shaker’: LA is hit by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Malibu, waking residents who describe it as ‘like a train going by’

- The epicenter was recorded about 10 miles south of the Malibu coast
Los Angeles was struck by a magnitude 4.2 earthquake off the coast of Malibu on Wednesday morning.
Residents said they were woken up by the quake, and one said in a post on Twitter it felt “like a train going by”. ‘That was a shaker!’ another wrote.
According to warnings, the earthquake struck almost 2 a.m. Wednesday, 28 miles southwest of Los Angeles and about 10 miles south off the coast of Malibu.
According to the National Weather Service, the quake struck a mile deep and no tsunami warning was issued.
A Canoga Park resident said on Twitter he felt the earthquake and aftershocks. Another said they felt it at Agoura Hills.
Several celebrities also reported feeling the tremors. ‘Wow. That was big,” actor Josh Gad wrote at 2:02 a.m., shortly after the quake.
“Damn, this earthquake felt BEAUTIFUL here in The Valley,” wrote Zedd (aka Anton Zaslavski), the Russian-German DJ and music producer.
Chance The Rapper wrote, “G wtf #earthquake,” while fellow rapper ICY GRL just wrote, “The Earthquake” along with a hiding emoji.
There were no immediate reports of damage in the area or injuries.
