The two volunteers, who had been missing for several weeks, were found dead on Tuesday 25 January while taking part in the community aid convoy.
Two Britons who went to Ukraine as volunteers were killed while attempting a “medical evacuation” from the town of Soledar, the scene of fierce clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces, as was the family of one of them on Tuesday January 24 , announced.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Chrissy was killed along with her colleague Andrew Bagshaw while attempting a humanitarian evacuation from Soledar in eastern Ukraine,” said a statement from Christopher Parry’s family, transmitted by the UK Foreign Office.

“He couldn’t help but travel to Ukraine in March at the darkest time, at the beginning of the Russian invasion, to help those who needed it most, saving more than 400 lives and many animals,” she added .

Missing for several weeks
Christopher Parry, 28, and Andrew Bagshaw, 48, who lived in New Zealand before the war, according to media in that country, have been missing for several weeks.
Wagner Group leader Evguéni Prigojine indicated on January 11 that his fighters had found the body of one of them in Soledar.

Soledar, a town of 10,000 before the war, was largely destroyed by bombing in early January and a first humanitarian convoy arrived there last Friday to help the population.
The Russian army and Wagner Group mercenaries announced almost two weeks ago that they have captured this location near Bakhmout, which the Russians have been trying to capture for months.
