On the night of January 14-15, a young woman was hit by a car in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (USA).
She was taken to the hospital where she died. The autopsy revealed that she was under the influence of alcohol.
The victim has since been identified as Madison Brooks, a student at the University of Louisiana.
Investigations revealed that the 19-year-old had spent the evening at Reggie’s Bar near campus. At around 2 a.m., she asked a group of four boys to take her home.
CCTV footage showed Madison was apparently intoxicated when she got into her car.
The four men have been identified. They are Kaivon Washington, 18, Everette Lee, 28, Casen Carver, 18, and a 17-year-old minor whose identity has not been released due to his age.
Carver told investigators that Madison Brooks was so drunk she could not balance or speak.
He clarified that Brooks had sex with Kaivon Washington and the minors in the backseat, but that she was too drunk to consent and that he “hated” it.
But sitting in the passenger seat, all he did was urge the two rapists to stop.
Then, because Brooks couldn’t give them her address, they dropped her off at a nearby housing development, where she was later rammed.
The four suspects were arrested for rape and later charged. The investigations are ongoing.
