The suspect is suspected of taking part in the violent attack, which happened at the end of class on Monday, accompanied by at least four other people.
The teenager, whose identity cannot be released due to his age, is due to be brought before the juvenile chamber on Thursday morning for assault with a weapon.
The suspect is not a student at the school, authorities confirmed.
“Investigations are progressing well and further arrests will follow,” said SPVM spokeswoman Véronique Dubuc.
During the attack, at least five young men attacked a 16-year-old teenager on the Calixa-Lavallée school grounds. They hit him several times with a hammer, seriously injuring him.
At times, the doctors even feared for the life of the young victim.
Pictures of the group of suspects fleeing, hammer in hand, made the rounds on social media on Wednesday.
These images will surely help investigators identify other suspects involved in this crime.
The SPVM invites anyone with information about this attack to call 911 or go to their neighborhood police station.
