Ministry reports cyberattack on German Bundestag

In Germany, according to the Interior Ministry, cyberattacks on Bundestag websites, police and critical infrastructure have been “largely repelled” or “remained without serious effects” in recent days.

The attacks were mainly targeted at airport websites. However, portals in the financial sector and in the area of federal and state administration were also affected, as announced today by a spokesperson for the ministry.

According to information from the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), the attacks were announced by the Russian hacker group Killnet. The attacks were DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. In this type of cyber attack, a large number of requests are sent to a website to overload or disable it.
