The Quebec Remparts showed the Chicoutimi Saguenéens the extent of their power on Friday. A shutout by William Rousseau and a double by Théo Rochette allowed the Red Devils to spoil the evening at Chicoutimi.
Patrick Roy’s men made the Sags drool with a 5-0 win in front of a season-record crowd of 3,895 at the Center Georges-Vézina. Despite some renewed energy from the locals in the second period, the Remparts didn’t give their rivals a chance.

Théo Rochette scored his 29th and 30th goals this season against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
“Everyone played a great game,” said Remparts head coach Patrick Roy. I loved our intensity, but I especially loved the fact that we played 60 minutes. We’ve been playing this way for several games. »
A successful power play
The numerical lead of the representatives of the Capitale-Nationale made life difficult for the “Sags”. After about eight minutes in the first third, the Remparts had already scored two goals with one man more.
Théo Rochette beat goalkeeper Charles-Antoine Lavallée with a good individual performance and Nicolas Savoie with a shot on target. Towards the end of the first period, James Malatesta extended his team’s lead to three.
30 goals for Rochette
The saguenéens were a bit more aggressive in the first half of the second period. However, that didn’t stop Théo Rochette from reaching the 30-season mark thanks to his second goal of the season. This is the second time he has accomplished this feat in the QMJHL.
“It’s always fun to score goals. Chemistry with Zach [Zachary Bolduc] and PO [Pier-Olivier Roy] is really good,” said Rochette.
Defender Jérémy Langlois was instrumental in the Remparts’ dominance in the third period. The former Cape Breton Eagles scored his first goal in the red jersey with a powerful single shot. As a result, Malatesta scored his third point of the evening.
Rousseau wins
After solving a problem with tonsillitis, William Rousseau faced the few threats from the “Sags” throughout the game. By blocking the 20 shots his way, the keeper signed his fourth shutout of the season.
Another player was back in Roy’s lineup. Vsevolod Komarov wore a full visor and uniform during his team’s victory after suffering a concussion in Cape Breton on January 14. This is probably good news for the Red Devils’ defensive brigade.
The Remparts return home Sunday afternoon to take on the Charlottetown Islanders.
