The president Joe Biden ordered the American national security team to contact Israeli interlocutors to offer “all reasonable assistance” to tend to the injured and “bring those responsible for this horrific crime to justice,” said White House spokeswoman Karine Jean Pierre. “The United States will provide the full support of the Government and people of Israel,” the US executive communications officer said. JeanPierre also lamented the “cruel terrorist attack that took place in the synagogue in Jerusalem”. Seven people died when they were shot dead in an armed attack on a synagogue in a Jewish settlement in east Jerusalem, in an attack celebrated by Palestinian militias in revenge for the deaths of 10 Palestinians at the hands of Israeli forces on Thursday. Today’s attack was the deadliest in Israel in years.
