At the end of the first two race weekends of Formula E with the third generation of vehicles, two drivers seem to have found each other: Pascal Wehrlein and Jake Dennis.

After the first three events of the season, the Porsche and Andretti drivers each took the top two steps of the podium. Dennis opened the season with a nearly eight-second win in Mexico. Then Wehrlein swept Dariya’s E-Prix.

With 68 points, Wehrlein is six points ahead of Dennis in the overall standings. Behind them there is already a gap to the peloton, as veteran Sébastien Buemi (Envision) is third, 37 points behind the leader.

Proud

It wasn’t easy for Wehrlein, however, who started from ninth and fifth on the grid before winning. But when the team has to make adjustments in qualifying, they seem to have quickly found a vein to use these new cars in the race.

“I’m so proud of these guys; Unbelievable, Wehrlein exclaimed after his first win by throwing flowers at his team, according to the FE’s official website. The car was great, it allowed me to fight from ninth to first place.

“The race was simply great. I knew we had a good race car. I knew we could make up places, but I never imagined that we would win the race. So strategically it was perfect. The car was excellent,” he repeated.

In advance

Also, one thing brings Wehrlein and Dennis closer together, and that’s the powertrain. Indeed, Andretti made an agreement with the German engine manufacturer to use its engines. Also, these seem to have an advantage over everyone else so far.

Dennis showed that in Dariya as he climbed from 11th to second in race one.

“It’s an absolute testament to the team and all their hard work to give me such a great race car,” said the Briton.

The drivers will be back in action for the inaugural E-Prix in Hyderabad, India on February 11th. The event will be broadcast on TVA Sports.
