US actress Lisa Loring, who played the character Wednesday Addams as a child in the 1960s television series The Addams Family, died on Saturday at the age of 64 from a stroke, according to American social networks and media.
The death of Lisa Loring, uncovered Sunday by Variety and CNN citing her agent, has had some resonance in the United States and Europe due to Tim Burton’s new Netflix series Wednesday Burton with Jenna Ortega.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of our friend Lisa Loring,” wrote a producer and close friend of the deceased, Laurie Jacobson, on Facebook, citing a serious cerebrovascular accident (CVA) from smoking and high blood pressure.
A few days on an artificial respirator, her family made the decision to let her die on January 28th. According to Ms. Jacobson, “She will remain Wednesday Addams, etched in pop culture and in our hearts forever.”
Born in 1958 in the Marshall Islands, Lisa Ann DeCinces, as her real name is, began a career as a child model at the age of three before playing Little Wednesday in the 1964 TV series The Addams Family. Her best-known role, which she resumed in 1977 when she was old.
This famous family, drawn by Charles Addams in American newspapers in 1938, then experienced several adaptations, including the 1991 hit film “The Addams Family” with Christina Ricci in the role of Wednesday.
And Netflix has been airing a new series since late November, Wednesday, directed by Tim Burton and starring Jenna Ortega.
