California firefighters in the United States had to use 6,000 gallons of water to climb a Tesla battery that suddenly caught fire on a California highway last Saturday.
“[Deux] Firefighters, a water supply and a ladder truck have been called in for assistance,” the Sacramento Fire Department wrote on Twitter. The vehicle was raised slightly with jacks to access the battery. The sappers were able to put out the fire and cool the device.
The vehicle’s battery compartment spontaneously caught fire while traveling at freeway speeds on EB Hwy 50. The fire was extinguished with approximately 6,000 gallons of water while the battery cells continued to burn. Thank goodness no injuries were reported. pic.twitter.com/PRmlWzQdXS

The vehicle’s battery compartment spontaneously caught fire for an unknown reason while the driver was driving on the freeway. Luckily nobody was hurt.
This is far from the first time such a fire has been reported. Several such stories have occurred around the world in the past.
