Blake Lively pokes fun at Ryan Reynolds’ dramatic expression in Wrexham FC’s last game

Blake Lively poked fun at husband Ryan Reynolds for feeling “crippling anxiety” watching his football club Wrexham AFC take on Sheffield United.

Watching the intense game with their daughter James, eight, on Sunday, the 46-year-old actor showed a rollercoaster ride of emotions on his face, including a hopeful to devastated expression as his team finally lost their hard-fought battle.

“I bought ESPN+ today. Just to watch my husband experience crippling anxiety live,” the mother of three commented on a snap of her husband looking distraught to her Instagram Story. ‘Its worth it.’

She continued: “They are playing against a team that is 3 leagues higher. And is currently winning. Life doesn’t make sense.’

“If you’re not watching this crazy @wrexham_afc game, you’re missing out on this vibe,” gushed the Gossip Girl graduate.

At the game, Ryan – who also shares daughters Inez, six, and Betty, two, with Lively and has a fourth child on the way – seemed in high spirits as he enjoyed quality time with his eldest.

Ryan later described the game as “one of the most exciting things I’ve ever seen” when he took to Twitter after starting full-time in Wales.

“When @RMcElhenney (co-owner and fellow Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney) and I went into this, it all felt so impossible. But impossible is Wrexham’s favorite colour,” he shared.

“It was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever seen. Thank you to every single Wrexham supporter who came out and got their hearts set on this pitch tonight.

The Wales side fell behind within two minutes of the game when Oli McBurnie netted for the visitors and faced what could have been a long evening.

But James Jones equalized early in the second half and Tom O’Connor scored to put the hosts ahead, although Oliver Norwood’s goal restored things to order minutes later.

Top scorer Paul Mullin appeared to set his side on course for the fifth round when he came home in the 86th minute, but John Egan salvaged a point for the Blades and the two sides will now play a replay.

Ryan took to the BBC to speak about the impact his takeover was having on the people of Wrexham and described the takeover as “the greatest experience” of his life as he attempted to take the club into the Football League.

“We looked at a few different clubs but Wrexham just spoke to us,” he added.

“The club was already perfect, it just needed a bit of attention. We’re not here to make decisions on the pitch. I look at this place like a church. It holds a special place in my heart and is spreading around the world.

“The plan is to get into the Premier League. If it’s theoretically possible, why not? That is the goal. The fact that we are in this church, realistically if I were Sheffield United I would take this game very seriously.

Wrexham will play their next game on Saturday when they take on Altrincham, but with Blake’s due date approaching it’s unknown if Ryan will attend.
