David Beckham takes his love of exotic cuisine to another level when the self-confessed foodie tries BUGS during his recent trip to Mexico City
David Beckham took his love of exotic cuisine to another level during a trip to one of his favorite overseas cities on Monday.
The former Manchester United and England midfielder is currently in Mexico City, where he has decided to embrace one of the city’s long-standing culinary traditions while visiting a local food stall.
Taking to Instagram, Beckham, 47, shared photos of freshly made guacamole, rice pudding, salsa and salad alongside a bowl of arguably less appetizing bugs.
I pass, thanks: David Beckham took his love of exotic cuisine to another level on Monday by sampling dead bugs during a trip to Mexico City
The dead bugs – commonly added to sauces and cocktails – seemed to be mixed up and served as a less flavorful option to an otherwise appealing collection of traditional dishes.
Beckham previously admitted he was delighted to be back in Mexico City – the world’s most populous capital – after sharing a selfie from his hotel balcony.
The former footballer is paying a visit to the city after serving as best man at the Miami wedding of his close friend Marc Anthony, who tied the knot with former Miss Universe Nadia Ferreira on Saturday.

After long stints in Spain, Italy, France and the United States, Beckham has developed a diverse love of food throughout his successful playing career.
And his enthusiasm appears to have rubbed off on his eldest son, whose regular Cookin’ with Brooklyn Instagram updates have proven popular with fans — if not always for entirely positive reasons.
The aspiring chef was recently criticized for being “out of touch” when he used a luscious ingredient, truffle, to whip up a tagliatelle in his latest cooking tutorial.
The son of David and Victoria Beckham, 23, has been doing his best to launch a cooking career and often takes to social media to showcase his food creations.
And the budding chef took to Instagram on Friday to share his latest cooking tutorial video, in which he saw how he made a creamy truffle tagliatelle.

That’s enough: Fresh salsa and salad were among the healthy treats on offer during Beckham’s recent outing in Mexico City
One person commented on his post, saying, “I wish I could afford the idea of ’not having too much truffle’.”
Another raged, “We’re in a cost of living crisis, Brooklyn.”
A third wrote: “He has to deal with his audience. Most people cannot afford truffles. I used to work as a chef, very basic what he does. I love seeing him working in a restaurant kitchen and seeing how he would make it.’
While a fourth added: “These people live in a different world that most people can barely afford right now and this kid is rambling on about truffles.”
According to 2021 estimates, the winter black truffle has an average price of $20.49 per ounce, while the burgundy black truffle is worth $24.93 per ounce and the summer black truffle is worth $22.57 per ounce. It is unknown what type of truffle Brooklyn used.
