Russian TV conjures up a "World War III" and possible "nuclear attacks"

On Russia 1, one guest said “the most likely scenario” is a nuclear attack, while another spoke of the possibility of sending a missile to the British Isles.

“World War III” and “Nuclear Attack”. For the past few days, Russian state television has been broadcasting statements from various analysts who assure on set that a new world war is imminent and that Russia will use its nuclear weapons for defense.

“Either we lose in Ukraine or World War III begins. I think the possibility of a third world war is more realistic,” Margarita Simonian, head of the Russian news channel Russia Today, told Russia1, a media outlet banned in the European Union, on Wednesday.

“One missile and it’s done, there are no more British Isles”

According to this pro-Kremlin Russian journalist, who has been repeatedly criticized for her involvement in Moscow propaganda, “the idea that it will all end in a nuclear attack strikes me as the most likely scenario, to my great dismay, but it is inevitable.” A statement to which the presenter replies, “But we will go to heaven.”

On the same channel, on Thursday’s program 60 Minutes, an analyst invited to the set did not hesitate to suggest the use of the Sarmat missiles – the new Russian ballistic missiles capable of carrying up to 10 nuclear warheads and capable of destroying a country the size of France – about Great Britain.

“One Sarmat missile and it’s done, there are no more British Isles,” he says, affirming that he is “very serious” in his statements. “Do you understand that no one would survive this? Nobody on this planet,” replied one moderator. “We would be left on a blank slate,” the guest then assures.

Videos of missiles on the back of the set, the presenter then lists the time it would take a Sarmat missile to hit a European capital: “It goes from Kaliningrad to Berlin in 106 seconds. From Kaliningrad to Paris in 200 seconds “. to London “in 202 seconds,” she explains, and then shows a map showing the trajectories of these weapons over Europe.

“Wake up, it’s already here. That’s how you have to talk to them, they only understand that,” says the man.

Other warnings of a nuclear attack

Promises of attack and warnings of World War III are regularly broadcast on Russian television sets. “The Russian special operation in Ukraine has turned into a third world war, that’s very clear,” said 60 Minutes presenter Olga Skabeïeva in mid-April when one of his guests called for the bombing of Kiev.

But it’s hard to say to what extent these speeches calling for an escalation of the war are part of Kremlin propaganda, in a bluff aimed at getting Western countries to back Ukraine so they stop helping Kyiv. Vladimir Putin actually doubts the use of these weapons.

The American secret service CIA has already warned of the danger of nuclear war and stated in mid-April that the threat of the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons or “low-power nuclear weapons should not be taken lightly”. he was to “sink into despair” at the failings of his army.
