An 8-year-old boy has been bitten in the chest by a shark near Lady Musgrave Island in Queensland, Australia, reports the Independent. He escaped unscathed.
An offensive that was as sudden as it was dangerous, but superficial wounds.
In Australia, near Lady Musgrave Island on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, an eight-year-old boy was bitten in the chest by a shark while on a fishing trip with his family, the Independent Tuesday reported January 31. He got away with a few scratches.
“I felt it a little bit, it hurt in my chest, but that’s all,” Manni Alam told Australian media Channel 9. Boy, Manni comes out of the water, kitted out in a swimsuit, with a coral trout in his hands. As he climbs back onto the boat, a shark grabs his chest before releasing him in a split second.
Ready to go fishing
Despite this chance and frightening encounter, the boy said he wasn’t afraid to dive back into the water to look for fish.
According to Ouest-France, there are an average of nearly twenty shark attacks in Australia each year. Two were fatal in 2021, compared to seven in 2020, Geo reports. But not all of them lead to serious consequences. On December 28, 2022, in Perth, Western Australia, west of the oceanic nation, swimmers swam very close to a three to four meter long tiger shark. The shark turned around quickly at the sight of people.
