Sporting director Olivier Renard is unable to agree on the details of a new deal with the striker but has nonetheless exercised the option attached to the Sierra Leonean’s current contract for the 2023 season.
The third-best scorer in Major League Soccer (MLS) history with 139 goals is therefore present at the Montreal team’s training camp last January, despite a request for a public transaction.
“If the conditions remain the same, I will of course keep my contract,” said Kamara in his first press crowd at the camp. I’m still here with the team and I’m 100% there. I will continue to support him in achieving the goals we have set ourselves, as we have done over the past year.”
Presumably, Kamara would like to return to the United States, where her family lives. However, he has already played in 17 seasons with nine teams in MLS, raising questions about his involvement.
But the main prospect indicates that he simply wants to end his career in the best possible place.
“I’m looking at other options to see if there’s anything better for me and my family. I don’t have many years left to play and I want to know that the place where I play will be the last. Last year I worked with the under 16s and wanted to get my coaching license. I was too lazy, because I see myself doing that later. I want to see myself in a place where I don’t want to pack my bags anymore.
CF Montreal will continue camp at the Olympic Stadium before heading to Florida on April 5 for some pre-season games. He will start his season against Inter Miami CF on February 25th.
