Malfunction affects Vietnam’s international internet connection

The cable, which went into service in November 2009, was damaged around 130 kilometers off the coast of Singapore, also disrupting traffic over the network with that nation.

In addition to the IA, three other lines: AsiaPacific Gateway (APG), Asia America Gateway (AAG) and Asia-Africa-Euro 1 (AAE-1) previously recorded damage.

The IA, the VNA news agency said, is one of the five fiber optic undersea cables that carry most of the internet connection traffic from Vietnam to international destinations.

It has a total length of 6,800 kilometers and connects Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong (China) and Japan.

It is also important for customers in the Indochinese nation and in the Asian region to ensure Internet data traffic to America and Europe.
