The REGARD Festival – international short film festival in Saguenay – has just unveiled its spokesperson: Florence Longpré. “If you’re lucky enough to be able to travel and come, that’s extraordinary because when you fall in love with a short film, it lasts a lifetime,” says the actress, who is currently working on her first short film.

REGARD has been courting Florence Longpré for three years, but her busy schedule prevented her from taking on the face of the Saguenay Short Film Festival. This year is good because the 39-year-old actress, who is a big fan of TV and movies, is happy to “watch movies,” she laughs. The event will take place in Saguenay from March 22nd to 26th.
“I’m going to spend the week there and I want to see as many films as possible,” explains the co-writer of the great series Le temps des raspberries, whose script for season 2 has just been completed. There is a great aura around this festival which is a great artistic encounter. It’s also a chance to find yourself in this great pool of creators gathered in the same place, it’s really awesome! »
She doesn’t know how many films she’ll see in a week, but you can feel her stamping her feet with impatience to see those of certain colleagues and friends, those from around the world and those of her for they were chosen the organization that already has some favourites.
“I’ll only be there for the love of short films,” continues the actress, screenwriter, and author, who wants to add director’s titles of both short and feature films to her resume. I’m still in the infancy with the thing (her first short film, the subject of which she prefers to keep quiet for the time being) and I’m finishing it and want to see if I’ll enjoy directing it. I feel like trying it. In short, it’s a really fun and dizzying exercise. »
His observation today is that a short film, like a feature film, is a work in itself, with the same intensity. And that neither the subject nor the scope are any less serious because it is a short film.
“We’re talking about the same order of magnitude,” adds the co-writer of the award-winning series Audrey is back. It reminded me that it’s a lot of improvisation being from somewhere else, I started doing that in secondary school. Telling vignettes and getting quickly into a space-time, that’s what I always liked and I found that in the short film. It quickly becomes a story and I like that a lot. »
On March 25, during the festival, the actress will take part in a long interview with Manon Dumais. They will talk about their professional experiences and certainly their upcoming projects including the film she just finished writing which has required her years of work. “We just gave it up,” she adds. We are waiting for answers. »
The actress will also co-direct another of her projects, which again is being kept very mysterious. As for the second season of the series “Le temps des raspberries”, part of the shooting will take place in February and another this summer. The official release date is still unknown.
There are only 33 presale passes left for the REGARD Festival. For cinema-goers unable to travel to Saguenay, the festival’s films will also be screened online (from March 27th to April 9th).
