The Los Angeles Lakers winger added 11 assists to his record in a game at Madison Square Garden, passing Mark Jackson (10,334) and Steve Nash (10,335) with 10,338.

“It’s great because that’s what I like to do: involve my teammates. I’m definitely excited to be associated with some of the greats,” James said in a press conference after a 129-123 win.

He is ahead of the still active Chris Paul, Jason Kidd and John Stockton with 11,246, 12,091 and 15,806 assists respectively.

In addition, the star player moved closer to another mark thanks to his 28 points in that meeting. He’s 89 points short of matching NBA all-time point guard Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who finished his career with 38,387 points.
