The bus drivers’ strike is a real headache for some schools dealing with increased traffic from drivers taking their children to school.
This is especially true for the School of International Education Filteau in Sainte-Foy in Quebec, which has had to deploy additional staff since Monday to keep everyone safe while they await the return to normal.
“It’s about 80 extra cars full of children who normally travel by bus, arriving before school every morning,” explains Principal Isabelle Lacombe.

A rotation of six from faculty and management will be added daily to the existing supervisors to direct traffic.
We have also pointed out the safety instructions for the “deposit” of children.
More administration
A monitoring service is also set up at lunchtime and in the evening for parents who cannot pick up their children immediately after the end of the lesson.
“It’s a lot of management, but the school’s philosophy is to find solutions when there are problems,” says Ms Lacombe, who ensures that no incident has occurred at the moment.
“Things are going well at the moment, we are ready to do what is necessary while it lasts. We’re doing this for the safety of our young people,” she adds.
