Dozens of people were injured in further clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli police in East Jerusalem. The Palestinian Red Crescent said 42 people were injured in today’s clashes, 22 of whom were taken to hospital.
Israeli police said “protesters” threw rocks and fireworks into the square in front of the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount, including at the Western Wall.
Israeli security forces then entered the area around the mosque and used tear gas and rubber bullets against the mostly young men, eyewitnesses and reporters from the AFP news agency reported. According to security forces, they arrested two Palestinians. After the morning prayer, the situation calmed down a bit.
