“Yesterday, the Chinese Ambassador to Canada was summoned by officials from Global Affairs Canada regarding the situation described in the statement released by the Defense Ministry,” Global Affairs said in a written statement on Friday.
“We will continue to vigorously express our position to Chinese officials through multiple channels,” the ministry said.
China, however, assures that it is a “mistake” that the so-called “spy balloon” was actually an instrument of civil and non-military origin that deviated from its trajectory due to the wind.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken postponed a trip to China after the ball was spotted.
