A Japanese company that makes flying motorcycles inspired by the Star Wars universe goes public on Friday.
Tokyo-based ALI Technologies will be announced Friday through its merger with already publicly traded Pono Capital Corp. participate in the Nasdaq listing to go public, Bloomberg reported.
Under the terms of the agreement, the company is now part of its US subsidiary, Aerwins Technologies.
The company is reportedly working on a 660-pound flying electric motorcycle that’s 12 feet long and capable of carrying a 220-pound passenger.
The bike, which costs $555,000 – almost CAD$750,000 – could reach a top speed of 50mph, so just over 80km/h, and has an autonomy of 40 minutes.
Last October, former New York Mets outfielder Tsuyoshi Shinjo reportedly reached 20 feet in the air while driving a prototype around a baseball field before the start of the game in Hokkaido, Japan.
It would be the fifth Asian company to go public, according to Bloomberg reports, according to people familiar with the matter.
