After a below-expectation performance at the X Games a few days ago, Elizabeth Hosking was looking to bounce back at the Mammoth Mountain World Cup. If qualifications earlier this week lived up to expectations, Saturday’s finals left the Quebec snowboarder starving.

Hosking, author of a third-place finish at the end of Thursday’s qualifying session, had high hopes of claiming her second podium of the season under the California sun. However, she struggled in her three runs that day and was unable to deliver a full routine. The 21-year-old snowboarder had to settle for eighth place with 15.00 points.
Japan’s Mitsuki Ono signed her second triumph of the campaign, amassing 90.75 points for her first appearance in the structure. The discipline’s world number one was joined on the podium by the Chinese Xuetong Cai (86.75) and the American Maddie Mastro (82.00).
Brooke D’Hondt from Alberta also took fifth place in this final with 70.75 points.
The World Cup circus moves to Calgary next weekend. This last event before the World Championships in Bakuriani, Georgia features halfpipe and slopestyle events.
In addition to Elizabeth Hosking, Quebecers Laurie Blouin, Francis Jobin, Nicolas Laframboise, Mathis Lamoureux, Jacob Legault and Émeraude Maheux will also be there.
