The end of the war in Ukraine is far from in sight. Dmitry Rodionov, director of the Geopolitical Research Center of the Institute for Innovative Development, which is considered to be close to the Russian Defense Ministry, and one of President Vladimir Putin’s advisers, raised the tone of the clash, even dialectically. Rodionov’s speech to the Corriere della Sera makes it clear that Russia has no intention of backing down and giving up attacks: “We must move forward or it will fail. Our very existence is at stake. Unless Ukraine is fully denazified and demilitarized, this military special operation will be remembered as a failure. We just have to keep going. Months ago we received the assignment to study various theoretical projects on the division of Ukraine. But the first, that is, the simple liberation of Donbass, is now being overtaken by events and the obstinacy of the Kiev regime in postponing the capitulation”.
Putin’s close adviser goes on to foresee a very dark fate for Ukraine, which threatens to be dismembered in these statements: “The very existence of what you in the West call the two pro-Russian separatist republics is no longer at stake. the very existence of Russia, as evidenced by the verbal escalation of recent days. This is a defensive operation. I am among those who have been asking Putin to intervene and send troops into Ukraine for eight years. But he still had some hope in the west. Now we’re finally on a total break. It is no longer about preventing Ukraine from joining NATO. But – concludes Rodionov – to create a new nation that will protect us from Western maneuvers.
