Monica Naranjo surfs with elegance at the Benidorm Fest

Ruphert said of Mónica Naranjo that her success had become unbearable. However, a former work colleague told me that he met her at a hairdresser in Andorra and that she was wonderful. José Luis Gil said that the two-tone hair was his idea and not Ruphert’s. And I don’t remember anything else that could have been said about Monika.

Last Saturday, Naranjo left me stumped as it defended with elegance and abandon (house brand) this quaint selection of musical scarecrows with underground polish and gritty songs, but wasn’t quite as catchy. You know, Blanca Paloma won, who is like Rosalía with María Pagés, but without Rosalía and without María Pagés. And for the second year running, the Benidorm Fest has been a success, that’s what it’s all about. The main thing here is Mónica Naranjo and her role as a caryatid. When Mónica presented the glorious first season of The Island of Temptations, she transformed the program into a dreamlike experience, pretending to listen to dramas she obviously didn’t care about. She’s able to show a turd in front of the camera and crack it like it’s Gernika. And at the Benidorm Fest, he smiled absently while the rest of those in attendance waved her “super cool,” “super strong,” “super diverse.” What was Monika thinking to distract herself.

It’s striking that a voice like his is limited to presenting and commenting on countless nonsense. I would make an analogy with Mayra Gómez Kemp, who was also a singer before becoming a presenter, but Mayra presented Un, dos, tres and Mónica had a fabulous time for television fiction but a decadent time for entertainment programming. I won’t talk about her until her next project, but don’t forget that she took a cheesy song like Vivir así es morir de amor by Camilo Sesto and covered it like it was the most important song in the world.
