Amira Elghawaby: QS’s ego has suffered

Québec Solidaire changes its mind and demands Amira Elghawaby’s resignation.

Too little too late.

Much like the latter’s apology, QS missed a good opportunity to defend Quebec and allow it to speak with one voice.

What justifies this decline?

Well, imagine if the new Commissioner doesn’t want to meet the Solidarity Officers before he takes office on February 20th.

For QS MPs, therefore, it was more important to be able to hold the session as they wished than to express themselves with their colleagues from all other parties represented in the National Assembly.

There is no danger

This is a very bad decision, both strategically, tactically and politically.

Some tongues might even argue that QS’s exit is not unrelated to the fact that by-elections were called and that we didn’t want that to be a campaign issue in this very important election.

We remember Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois’ arguments that the QS deputies do not want to condemn without a meeting, do not want to cancel without discussion.

It is necessary to believe that this position hid conditions, especially at the time of the offer. That’s not serious.

The Real Reasons

The truth is that those who stand in solidarity have realized the monumental mistake they made when they chose to abstain from voting on the National Assembly motion.

They realized that there are limits to being teachers of morals. That sometimes you can’t please everyone and that it’s important to take responsibility.

That’s called principles and beliefs and above all responsibility.

The truth is that Ms Elghawaby’s indifference to encountering QS hurt more than what she’s said in recent years.
