Super Bowl: Bookmakers expect big records

Americans will be spending more than ever on Super Bowl LVII betting offers, with total stakes expected to hit $16 billion.

That’s according to a poll by the American Gaming Association on Tuesday. That would be a 110% increase as 50.6 million Americans — 61% more than last year — are expected to attempt to guess the outcome of the game or make other predictions related to this American football crowd.

This increase is mainly related to the legalization of sports betting in more and more American states. Since the Los Angeles Rams met the Cincinnati Bengals last February, four states, including Kansas and Ohio, have legalized them. For example, 36 states now allow voting on sporting events, in addition to the District of Columbia (from the city of Washington).

“The Super Bowl serves to highlight the benefits of legal sports betting every year,” said AGA President and CEO Bill Miller in a statement. Punters are moving into the regulated market and its protections, leagues and sports media are seeing increased engagement, and legal operators are generating needed tax revenues for states across the country.”

This year the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will be in action. There doesn’t seem to be a favorite as around 44% of people in Uncle Sam’s Country considered betting on either team.

In Quebec, on Mise-o-jeu+, a bet on the Eagles can win you 1.80x your original bet, versus 2.20x if you place your marbles in the Chiefs clan.
