Disney CEO Bob Iger announces that Frozen and Toy Story sequels and a sequel to Zootopia are in development
Three of Disney’s most popular animated films are getting new episodes.
Walt Disney Corporation CEO Bob Iger announced Wednesday that Frozen and Zootopia sequels are in development and a fifth Toy Story film is in the works at Pixar.
“I am very excited to announce today that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios on some of our most beloved franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” said Iger.
“We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we draw on our unrivaled brands and franchises,” he added.
Iger announced the exciting news in a timely manner during the company’s first quarter 2023 conference call.

No additional information was provided regarding the release dates of the creative teams behind the upcoming films.
The news came after Iger announced that 7,000 employees at the company would be laid off after an earlier earnings report revealed a loss of 2.4 million Disney+ subscribers.
The Frozen sequel will be the third in the franchise. The first was released in 2013, followed by Frozen II in 2019.
The Zootopia sequel will be the first sequel to the 2016 animated film.
Meanwhile, the new Toy Story movie is a sequel to 2019’s Toy Story 4 and last year’s spin-off Lightyear.
