The Goya 2023 was a sober gala that eventually stretched to three hours and 20 minutes. But audiences continue to show interest in his show. An average of 2,684,000 people watched the Spanish Film Awards Ceremony on TVE’s La 1, with a 23.4% share. The longer a nighttime TV show lasts, the greater the chances that they will increase their on-screen market share, at the cost of losing viewers in the average surveillance data. This was the case at the award ceremony of the 37th edition of the Spanish Film Awards, according to the report published by the consulting firm GECA.
These results mean half a percentage point more than last year’s broadcast, but also a slight decrease in viewership: 93,000 fewer compared to 2022. The excessive duration of this year’s broadcast, which ran from 22.03. lasted until 1:25 p.m. in the morning – and several highlights increased that portion of the screen. Some of them were the initial tribute to his honorary Goya and an essential figure of Spanish cinema, the director Carlos Saura, who died last Friday, as well as several speeches by its participants for gender equality and public health.

The audience report published this Sunday also explains that the gala hosted by Clara Lago and Antonio de la Torre and dedicated to Rodrigo Sorogoyen As bestas gathered in its golden minute 3,186,000 viewers with 23.8% screen share. That figure is well above the 8.6% viewership average the public broadcaster achieved through February 10. A total of 7,572,000 viewers watched the award ceremony, which lasted more than 200 minutes.
With this data, the La 1 slot easily led in its slot on Saturday night. The Goyas started the final of the Club World Cup between Real Madrid and Saudi team Al Hilal (25.6% and 3,364,000 viewers at Telecinco) after football. At the same time, Antena 3, Telecinco and Cuatro were broadcasting films, while La Sexta was programming its nightly news slot, laSexta Xplica. All hovering between 4% and 8% of the screen share, allowing the Goyas to lead with absolute ease, making La 1 the leader of the day, followed by Telecinco and Antena 3. The ceremony attracted more interest from the female than male viewers (25th March 2007). .2% screen share for women compared to 21.2% for men). And it’s been sweeping young people, ages 13 to 24, which is its strongest age group.

Looking at the history of the audience, in 2010 Los Goya reached its peak in terms of the number of viewers. It was the year of Daniel Monzón’s Cell 211 triumph over Juan José Campanella’s El secreto de sus ojos. It then attracted 4.6 million viewers. From that moment on, TVE’s retransmissions had averaged over three million viewers each year. But with the arrival of the pandemic and the telematics galas, prices had seen their TV price drop after gradually increasing screen share.
