During this period, 23 vehicles of all kinds were stolen on the territory, despite a police warning broadcast on social networks on January 24.

However, some of these vehicles were eventually found in the days that followed.

“In three weeks there were six thefts in Lévis. In five of these six waves, we managed to arrest suspects,” explains Jean-Sébastien Levan, spokesman for the SPVL, claiming to take the situation seriously.

Some of them were released with a promise to appear, while others have already been brought to justice. However, it is not known if these individuals are linked, Mr Levan said.

Police remind that the most commonly stolen models are Honda CRV, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Ram, Ford F150, Lexus NX and RX, Toyota Tacoma and Highlander.

Caught in action

During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the SPVL also arrested two men and two women from the Montreal area who had burglary tools with them.

It was a resident of rue Antoine-Lambert, in the Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon sector, who contacted the authorities around 12:30 a.m. when he saw people sneaking around his vehicles.

“The police operation made it possible to arrest her two hours later. They face charges of conspiracy to steal vehicles, steal vehicles, steal tools and receive,” said the SPVL spokesman.

Two vehicle thefts and another attempt also occurred on the same night, but cannot be linked to these suspects at this time.
