A 21yearold takes to social media to say she’s Madeleine McCann, a girl who disappeared in Portugal in 2007 at the age of 3. On an Instagram page, the girl, who introduces herself as Julia Faustyna, posts montages and “evidence” that led her to believe in the possibility.
The woman says she needs a DNA test and complains that police investigators in the UK and Poland are ignoring her. She also asks her to help her reach Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine’s parents.
More than 15 years later, this is still one of the most debated cases of enforced disappearance. Last year, the prime suspect was charged with five sex crimes unrelated to the British girl’s story.
However, German investigators suspect that Christian Brueckner killed Madeleine after kidnapping her from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Braunschweig prosecutors said in a press release. The man was officially declared a suspect last year, but has been under investigation by German authorities for two years.
The account “iammadelemccann” (I’m Madeleine McCann) appeared on Tuesday (14) and already has more than 87,000 followers and 34 posts. After that, reactions to her videos on TikTok went viral.
In one of the posts, she says she can’t remember most of her childhood because she suffers from “posttraumatic amnesia.” However, he guarantees memories of vacations in a hot country with white flats and where he saw “baby turtles”.
“I think I could be Madeleine. I am in contact with someone from the Polish Foundation for Missing Persons. I will probably do a DNA test but that depends on the decision of the police,” he wrote in a long text on his Facebook.
similarities
Julia makes comparisons pointing out possible similarities between her and Madeleine, such as: B. a spot on her eye, warts in the same place, and even similar ears and dimples on her cheek.
In other montages, the young woman draws comparisons to Madeleine’s mother and father, Kate and Gerry.
“I have a defect in my eye, the same eye, the kind of defect Madeleine had. Only in my case it’s fading more and more every year,” he said.
However, in the comments, many said they didn’t believe Julia was really Madeleine, pointing out that the two don’t look alike: “The eyelids are completely different,” one person wrote. Others argued that the young woman needed “help and support” even though she wasn’t the missing Brit.
