Search and rescue operations completed in Syria after major earthquake

Syrian authorities announced Friday that search and rescue operations for survivors of last week’s earthquake have been completed. Now they focus on debris removal.

Bashar Al-Assad, the President, highlighted the people’s responsiveness despite the scale of the challenge.

The earthquakes left more than 44,000 dead and considerable material damage in this country and Turkey.

“The country is home and its protection is a duty, regardless of the nature and scale of the challenge and regardless of whether the capacities are numerous or small, and this has been shown from the first moments of the earthquake,” said the President. .

The head of state pointed out that while the war has affected the availability of resources and capacity, it has given Syrian society the experience to respond effectively to the earthquake, which has reported more than 6,000 deaths in the country.

“We will not forget those who mobilized with great enthusiasm and zeal to defend the true image of Syrian society in the various media, who did not allow the distorted image that some were trying to spread to damage our reputation as a society harmed.” he stressed Al-Assad.

At the same time, he thanked the countries that had provided solidarity aid from the first hours of the disaster, while emphasizing the importance of unity to deal with the complex circumstances.

In conclusion, the President concluded that “faith in God, in the land, and in the will that can work miracles. Syria will remain dignified with its people, strong with its history, rich with its dignity, and capable with its will.”
