Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, said this Friday the 17th that all possible means will be used to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Gallant also said the international community must do more to stop the proliferation of advanced weapons in Tehran.
The minister’s statement came at an event attended by authorities from the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
“When we talk about preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, we have to stick to every possible means,” Gallant said. “I repeat, all possible means are on the table.”
As of September 2022, Iran and world powers have made no progress in negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, which has been able to significantly slow the Iranian regime’s nuclear program.
Western states claim that when all sides were close to reaching an agreement, Iran made a series of unreasonable demands that made it impossible to conclude a deal.
According to the Israeli minister, even with an ongoing embargo that includes restrictions on missiles and related technologies, as well as the export and purchase of advanced military systems, Iran is managing to expand the proliferation of its advanced weapons beyond the region.
“Iran is currently discussing the sale of advanced weapons to as many as 50 different countries,” he warned. “The international community must create an effective alternative to the moribund embargo, a practical deterrent mechanism and consequences.”
The country came under fire from United Nations nuclear regulators this month after it made an unspoken change to the link between two sets of advanced machines that enrich nearweaponsgrade uranium to 60% purity at a nuclear power plant in Fordow.
