Long track speed skaters Laurent Dubreuil, Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu and Anders Johnson dominated Tomaszow Mazowiecki’s World Cup team sprint on Friday in Poland en route to the top step of the podium.
The Canadian trio clocked a time of 1:19.53, beating Norway (+1.36 seconds) and the Netherlands (+2.08 seconds).
Slightly slower than their opponents early in the race, the Canadians accelerated to take control of this event.
A little earlier, Gélinas-Beaulieu had finished fifth in the 1500m, won by American Jordan Stolz. David La Rue finished 12th in category B over this distance.
For her part, Valérie Maltais was sixth in the 3000m.
